My fiance and I have two rescue cats and hope to get a dog soon. I look forward to being a part of this board and contribute my knowledge to this organization.
Mariel Berei – Secretary
I've been in the customer service industry in Tahoe since 2007 and can't wait to expand my knowledge into helping animals. Animals other than my rescue AmStaff Jillian, are my world.
They all deserve to live the life of a dog here at the Lake. I am so excited to help make a difference in and with our community, aided by these people that have the exact same agenda.

Sandra DeLeon - Vice President Compliance
I am a transplant from Texas who lives for the outdoors. I am a devout animal lover but don’t have the emotional makeup to volunteer in a shelter. I’d leave crying each time and end up with a house full of dogs. I wanted to do something to help the animal welfare cause, and with everything that happened in the past year, I thought I would volunteer my business skills to help get the organization back on track. I have years of experience as a Healthcare Administrator with a background in Corporate Compliance and not for profit board service that will come in handy. I’ve been rescued by two beautiful pups, The Dude and DeLishUs. "I strive to be the person my dogs think I am!"
I am honored to be part of this distinguished board and even more honored to serve the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and the Lake Tahoe community. Together I am confident that we will rebuild and grow our organization and services to new heights. I have over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, commercial lending, investments, and cash flow analysis. Long-time admirers and visitors to Lake Tahoe, my wife and I were blessed to make Lake Tahoe our permanent home in 2012. My wife Cynthia and I have three 4-legged, furry and pawed children at home, three sons and their wives, two grandsons, and two grand-dogs. “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”
